How to get there: From Hougang mrt station, take exit A.

Coming up escalator, you'll see a big green field on your left.

Walk across the green field (There's a multi-storey car park on your left), and you'll see a playground.

Turn left, walk straight down the road. The second corner terrace (3 storey terrace) will be Jean's house.

Other buses that goes to Hougang interchange (165, 74, 111, 153, 72,161, 27, etc...)

1 injured, 2 Mamas, 3 youngsters, 5 opens that couldn't train, a number that were feeling sick and our very busy captain that had to negotiate and coordinate forever with Netball Singapore... such obstacles we faced that couldn't stop us.

Yes, we had tough times but we grit our teeth and pulled through. Who said victory ever comes easy?

Swoosh and Cubs didn't have it any easier, some of us are still pretty new to the fellow teammates so there's much to adapt and learn. Nevertheless, the experience gained from this ENL will improve our chemistry with each other and we'll definitely get better in the future competitions! Persistence and determination, Nikeians.

Let's work hard together and keep the Nike tradition alive!

Daisy Tan 2009 Champs

The few words above makes the destination sound so easy. The journey was far from that. If I think of a picture, it would be that of climbing a tall and hot mountain, with increasingly tough terrains to get through as we went higher. But hand in hand with one another, reaching the top was (and still is) a very very sweet feeling.

There was a constant mind battle between the image of 2 heavy lead legs versus the image of fresh orange with water droplets covering them. Which image would dominate?

I remember being with Li.HL, Sim.G, Yim.R, discussing the possibility of winning the final opponent TWICE. Honestly, feeling very sorry for my poor body, I didn’t believe but I was silent. 2 of them mentioned: “可以的.” And that were 3 very powerful simple words, because I knew it gave me some strength. The magic of working together to achieve something. Team mates pull one another through, sometimes without even knowing it.

Moving on from the power of team-ness, the strength of an individual is what makes a team strong. I am reminded of what Lix mentioned before, switching to FIGHTER mode when playing. So especially for the younger members reading this, when you’re on court even at training, focus on playing good netball.

It is not a time to pity yourself because you had a bad day prior to the game;

It is not a time to feel intimidated by opponents;

It is not a time to feel pressurized because your coach is watching.

Play YOUR netball.

Dawn, Jiamin, Jing, Lix & Baby, Pearline and Winston came down to show their support. Who said Tng.L is recovering from ACL injury? She just decided to step out to doing some good coaching. I saw young Shannon stepping up in big games, I saw Lau.J's love for the game still and her ability to make good passes, I saw Tan.Dez hardwork and consistency pay off, I saw Nor.Liy's quiet determination and talent, I saw Kang.YQ's desire and ever present ability to play the game, I saw Yim.R's Mighty Sprint (the one she has always been practising), I saw Li.HL's willingness to be what she needs to be for the team, I saw Ng.Jn's cheery leadership, I saw Loo.Jl's youth and ability to give; I saw Sim.G's dependability (er, on court, not with lunch order), I saw the juniors, young and bright and hopeful.

I saw and felt a Nike team on Sunday both on and off the court. Did you?

Whoo hoo! What a great way to start of the year and the season!

Following in the usual Nike tradition, we had to play the double knockout (i.e. play our opponents twice!!) to win the title... we are nothing if not hardworking! Haha.. think the team felt it going into the last few games that the match was ours, we could win it and we just got on court and did it. Awesome.

To the Cubs, well done! It wasn't easy getting to the second round but you did it! Many of you have come a long way and improved a lot in the last few months... so keep it up! :)

The game is ON! Let's bring it to the national league and reclaim out title!

Players-
1) Co-operate with your captain(s)/manager and give them your full support!
2) Inform them early them of your absence so that they may make the necessary arrangments.
3) Be punctual for all matches
4) You will look forward to all trgs! yay!

Managers-
1) Ensure that there are bibs, balls, timers, scorers for all matches
(collect stopwatch/competition ball; submit scorecards)
2) Remind players of match days/time
3) Collate players availability for each match
4) Ensure team is down for every trg

Captains-
1) Inform NS of team unavailability and make necessary postponements (if any)
-Cubs may approach Jean/Jolynn/Li Ling for assistance
2) Raise any issues to umpire during gameplay

Just a quick update to all the young ones, old ones and missing ones...

There will be training every Friday, 745pm-10pm @KNC
In view of the upcoming YEL, 3 teams have been submitted.
The final namelist will be announced tmr, so make sure you get your fat ass down to KNC! (yes.. at the rate you are hibernating, your ass is growing!)

And since most/ALL of you are involved in the YEL, it is only reasonable that you play to the standard of the club expectation. So, we will be expecting full attendance unless you are in the midst of:

1) O's & A's Levels
2) Exams
3) Breast-Feeding
4) Baby-Sitting
5) Working
6) Injury

the Year End League (YEL) will be held from the 11th november to 11th december 2008. Nike netball club will be sending in 2 teams for the 19 and under category. To faciliate the selection of players and allocation of teams, we need you to register yourself.

Before you register, please take note of the following:

once you send in the application, you are giving the commitment for both the games and also trainings. the attendence for trainings will be taken into account seriously.
all registration emails have to be in by TUESDAY 7th October 2008 as we need to send in the applications really soon.

Our nike netball blog is up!!

hello peepos!

presenting to you is our very own nike netball blog! this will be the official cyber venue for us to deseminate informations regarding trainings, carnivals, leagues or any other matters from now onwards. in addition, i have also created a gmail account for us to send and recieve information - nikenetball@gmail.com. so keep a lookout for that too!

at this moment, the oldies will all have the "power" to log in to both the blog and gmail. we will discuss during next trainings to see if we will include some other girls too. wait for further notice please! if not, you can always approach me or drop me an email at rachelconnection@yahoo.com, i don't mind helping to "take care" of this little space of ours since i can't contribute at trainings haha

anyway, the coming few months will be really exciting since we have the year end league and our own NIKE NETBALL CARNIVAL in our schedule! all of us must work really hard and be commited at trainings. don't just merely say but use your actions to prove it. all of us have a part to play now.

a few things that i want to use this opportunity to highlight:

there will ALWAYS be trainings on every friday. please be there by 7.45 pm and ready to start by 8 pm. do not assume that trainings are cancelled! in case of potential wet weather, we will try to inform everyone as early as possible. so if you did not recieve any sms, please still make your way down to knc. and always inform jolynn or Li Ling if you are coming for trainings so that they can make plans for trainings.
commitment and attendence is really important now since we have so many things coming up. it will also make it easier for those who are coaching to do progressive skill trainings. ( a sideline note: some of you who have been coming down regularly, we can see that you have improved over this few trainings so KEEP IT UP and continue to jiayou!)
if you intend to bring any newbies to join us for trainings, please inform Li Ling or jolynn at least 3 days in advance so that they are aware of what's happening. we are friendly people laaa just that it will be nice if they know coz they taking trainings ma hehe thx la hoh!
ball cage matters - whoever taking the balls out from the cage, please ensure that we are only taking out the nike balls and not the balls from blaze.

ok i am being very naggy here hahahahhaha if i miss out anything please let me know! check out the next post too cause it is regarding NIKE NETBALL CARNIVAL!
